1st Cyprus National Advisory Board Meeting for ‘ENGINITE’
The 1 st Cyprus National Advisory Board meeting of the ERASMUS+ project ENGINITE was successfully held on Friday, February 16, 2018, at the Cyprus Interaction Lab of the Cyprus University of Technology in Limassol.
The National Advisory Board Committee of the ERASMUS+ project ENGINITE is composed of three members: Dr. Despo Ktoridou (Associate Professor, Chairman of the Department of Management and Administrative Information Systems, University of Nicosia), Mr. Savvas Savvides (Vice President of the local IET Engineering Communities in Cyprus) and Ms. Elena Kalli (Officer, Youth Organization of Cyprus). Present at the meeting were also the project coordinator of ENGINITE Dr. Andri Ioannou (Assistant Professor, Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts), the project manager Dr. Yiannis Georgiou (Postdoctoral Researcher, Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts) and Ms. Christina Achilleos (EU Funding Consultant, Representative of the local project partner GrantXpert).
At the beginning of the meeting the project coordinator Dr Andri Ioannou, presented to the National Board Members the ENGINITE’s scope, philosophy and main objectives, and great emphasis was given on the different activities that will take place during the life of the project. Furthermore, Dr Andri Ioannou clarified to the National Advisory Board Members their role and contribution during the implementation of the project.
ENGINITE aspires to implement an innovative vocational training program that will help young graduate engineers acquire the practical skills required in today’s competitive labor market. The professional development program will be based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) pedagogy.
After presenting the project essentials, a fruitful discussion followed, during which the National Advisory Board members gave their views on the possibilities and prospects of the project, as well as on the possible challenges that may arise during the implementation of the ENGINITE project. The meeting was completed with collecting the suggestions of the National Advisory Board members, which are deemed of great value for the project’s successful implementation.
Towards the end of the meeting, the members of the National Advisory Board Committee expressed their enthusiasm for the innovative character of the European project ENGINITE and committed to provide their full support, up until the end of the project implementation.
